UAG celebrates Día del Estudiante Autónomo
On October 23, the community of Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) celebrated the Día del Estudiante Autónomo.
During the celebration, recreational events were held where students from all UAG schools and faculty participated as well as in sports like basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and a scavenger hunt, among other activities.
The rally was attended by around 500 students dressed in different colors, to differentiate their teams and had several competitions that took place in the gardens of buildings "A", "B" and "C"
During the scavenger hunt, the students dressed up in costumes, had to pass several tests such as tug-o-war, soccer tricks, water slides, sack races, gotcha, giant bowling, mechanical bull, bubble football, etc.
Within the activities, the university community also enjoyed climbing, carnival games, giant bubble racing and music.
At the opening of the event the President of UAG, Lic. Antonio Leaño Reyes, gave a message, in which he highlighted that this date is celebrated at the UAG because it was part of the beginning of a heroic deed against the socialist education that was implemented in Jalisco in 1933, a two-year struggle that culminated in 1935 with the founding of Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
"Congratulations; 85 of the events that led to the foundation of UAG, I congratulate you, for the enthusiasm, the participation with which you celebrate this day. At this event, your participation counts as we celebrate and feel proud to belong to the UAG; in good time," he said.
On the other hand, the President of the Federacion de Estudiantes Jalisco (FEJ), Juan José Tinoco, took the floor to say that young people are the pillar of change and must fight for a fair cause.
"Congratulations on your day. They continue to celebrate with enthusiasm and do not lose the principles that gave us our identity and fight for the noble causes, the situation is different, but it is the young people who make the historical changes they go against the currents; Let's continue with that same mystical and idea, fight for transcendence, "he said.
